Solstice of Heroes – Unlocking and Upgrading the Armor

Solstice of Heroes 2020 is here and with the new year comes the MMXX seal as well as brand new loot to obtain. This year brings a whole new Magnificent Armor set with a new unique cosmetic armor glow, earned by completing a whole lot of objectives to upgrade it. Alongside this new armor set is an exclusive emblem and the final triumphs to complete the Destiny 2 MMXX Title.

 

This year’s Solstice of Heroes armor not only has a unique glow and a completely new look, the Magnificent Armor, once fully upgraded, has a good chance to drop with a high stat roll. This adds Solstice of Heroes armor to the short list of places in Destiny 2 where you can obtain high stat armor and is one of the only places you can get high stat armor as a solo player.

Upgrading the armor begins with obtaining the Renewed helmet from Eva Levante and completing a run of the limited time event activity, the European Aerial Zone or EAZ for short. Upon completing this you will receive the full Renewed Armor set and the quest to upgrade your Solstice of Heroes armor will begin. Each class has some unique upgrade requirements but the amount of activities that you have to complete is fairly uniform between characters.

The specific requirements to upgrade the Renewed Armor set are:

Once you have completed these objectives on the specific character you will return to the tower and meditate at the Statue of Heroes. Your Renewed Armor set will then be upgraded to the Majestic Armor set with a whole new set of objectives to upgrade the Majestic set to the Magnificent set. Once again there are some differences between characters in the specific requirements to upgrade the armor set but the types of activities you will be doing the same.

The specific requirements to upgrade the Majestic Armor to the Magnificent are:

Once you have completed these objectives you will take your armor back to the Statue of Heroes and meditate to upgrade to the Magnificent Armor set. Once you have completed this you will be able to purchase the unique elemental armor glows from Eververse.

But you aren’t done yet. Unlocking this set leaves you with one final set of objectives to complete to unlock the white armor glow for the solstice armor, this specific glow is not purchasable and will apply to all magnificent armor that you obtain. Each armor piece requires an amount of completions of a specific activity, and so long as you have the magnificent armor unlocked on all characters, completing one piece will complete the objective for all your characters.

The specific challenges to upgrade the Majestic armor are as follows:

Helmet:

• Complete a Master nightfall

Gauntlets:

• Complete a nightmare hunt

Chest:

• Complete the Pit of Heresy dungeon

Legs:

• Win matches in Trials of Osiris

Class Item:

• Defeat the final boss in Altars of Sorrow

Completing these objectives unlocks the final white glow on the Solstice of Heroes armor and allows you to farm for the high stat armor from the European Aerial Zone by earning Solstice Packages and key fragments.
